Getting Started with PointSolutions

Overview

Previously known as TurningPoint, PointSolutions is utilized for interactive polling and academic engagement through the use of physical and digital clickers. This is a useful tool for assessing student understanding and facilitating engaging discussion in the classroom or through an in-person or online event. Echo subscriptions, inclusive of PointSolutions, are renewed every year in June. In case you receive a message that your subscription expiring during the summer, it will renew.

Creating a Participant (Student) Account

  1. Go to https://account.turningtechnologies.com
  2. In the “Sign In” page, click Get started here.

  1. In “Let’s get started” page, enter your NEOMED email address and click Next.

  1. A message is shown that “A Verification email containing a link to create your account has been sent to your email.”  Go to your NEOMED email to find the Turning verification email.
  2. In the “Turning verification email,” Click Create your account.

  1. In the “New User Registration” page, enter your First Name and Last Name. Ensure your Role is set to Participant. Select the checkbox “End User License Agreement” and Click Continue.

  1. Now, you have created a PointSolutions account. Click “Let’s get started” to begin the account configuration workflow.

  1. On the next screen, you will see a note that NEOMED has a subscription with Echo360 for PointSolutions. You can click Next on the bottom-right of the screen to proceed to the next section.

  1. The next screen is where you indicate the type of clicker you are using.
  • For Medicine students: You will need to enter your Clicker Code from your hardware clicker on this screen in the Clicker Code field. You should have received your hardware clicker during student orientation or purchased through The Pod. Please refer to the back of the clicker to find the Clicker Code. Once entered, click Next on the bottom-right of the screen. Make sure that the correct clicker ID is registered to your account - If the wrong device ID is linked - it may result in the loss of grade points.

  • For Pharmacy and Graduate Studies students & Employees: Your classes will utilize the PointSolutions mobile app that can be installed on your mobile device. Please select Only use mobile device

  1. On the next screen, you will be asked to connect your PointSolutions account to Canvas, NEOMED's learning management system. Click Connect and follow the prompts, if applicable, to log into your NEOMED account and complete the connection. Once complete, click Next on the bottom-right of the screen. 

  1. You will be directed to videos that will help you get started. Click Finish.

  1. You will enter the Session ID which is given by your instructor when the polling begins and click Join Session.


NOTE:  You can download the PointSolutions Mobile App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. If you have problems joining a class session, you can also join it via web browser at https://www.ttpoll.com. 

Creating an Instructor Account

Before you can use PointSolutions (formerly TurningPoint as an instructor, you will first need to create an account.

  1. Go to https://account.turningtechnologies.com
  2. Click Get started here.
  3. On “Let’s get started” page, enter your NEOMED email address and click Next.
  4. A message is shown that “A Verification email containing a link to create your account has been sent to your email.”  Go to your NEOMED email to find the Turning verification email. In the “Turning verification email,” Click Create your account.

  1. The link will take you to a “New User Registration” page. You will need to enter/ensure the following: 
    1. Ensure your FIrst Name and Last Name are entered correctly.
    2. Select Instructor from the Role drop-down menu
    3. Select Higher Education from the Market drop-down menu.
    4. Select United States from the Country drop-down menu.
  2. Once confirmed, select the checkbox “End User License Agreement” and click Continue.
