NEOMED File Storage Options and Guidelines

NEOMED IT is encouraging everyone to avoid storing work related files on their desktop and laptop equipment and to instead use file storage that is backed up and managed. Only use My documents on your local computer to keep temporary files or files that will not need to be recovered if they are deleted or your computer crashes.

**As a reminder, NEOMED provided storage (shared folders, OneDrive, etc.) are meant for work-related (not personal) documents.

Below are the options available for storing files.

Internal File Shares

  • Projects drive (P:)

Intended for files and folders related to a project with a defined start/end date. These should be removed after a period of time.

  • Staff drive (S:)

Shared space provided to faculty/staff for administrative and departmental files.

OneDrive for Business

New option available with Office 365. OneDrive allows for easier collaboration and allows you to access documents from anywhere without needing VPN. You can also easily recover deleted files (for up to 90 days after the file is deleted).
