Overview
The following article outlines steps to take when experiencing issues launching the NBME Secure Browser.
Mac Devices
Step 1: Use Safari as Your Default Browser
- Go to System Settings → Desktop & Dock.
- Find Default Web Browser and choose Safari.
Step 2: Remove Extra Downloads
- Open your Downloads folder.
- Delete all copies of the NBME Secure Browser except the first (oldest) one.
Step 3: Turn Off Anti-virus
If you have any antivirus or security software running, quit or pause it before installing or using the Secure Browser. Then restart your computer.
Step 4: Move It to Applications
- Find the NBME Secure Browser file in your Downloads folder.
- Drag it into your Applications folder.
- Always open and use it from Applications (not from Downloads).
Step 5: If It Still Doesn’t Work
- Create a new user profile:
- Go to System Settings → Users & Groups → Add Account (+).
- Create a new Admin or Guest Admin account.
- Log into that new account.
- Open Safari and download the NBME Secure Browser once.
- If it still won’t open, drag it into the Applications folder and try again.
