Request Automated Captions During a Meeting/Webinar

As an attendee/participant, how can I request automated captions turned on?

Steps

If a meeting/webinar host has turned off automated captions, you may be able to request captions by following these steps:

  1. During a Zoom meeting or webinar, click Request Captions in the bottom toolbar.
  2. A request is sent to the host with a notification that appears for them in their meeting window.
  3. The host (and/or co-host) will review the request and then approve or decline, as well as set the speaking language if enabled.
    • If approved, automated captions will immediately appear for the requestor and all participants/attendees. 
    • If denied, the requestor will not receive a denial notification.

Hosts may choose to turn off the ability for participants to request automated captions during their meeting/webinar. If that is the case, you will not be able to request captions and should contact the host directly if this is an issue.
