Overview
Those with NEOMED-issued Windows 10 PCs may be able to upgrade to Windows 11 on their own schedule, through the use of Microsoft Software Center.
Note: The Windows 11 upgrade must be made available to your device in Software Center for this method to work. Please contact the Help Desk if you do not see Windows 11 available to you in Software Center after June 10, 2025 using the steps below.

Known Issues
- Issue: After completing the Windows 11 upgrade, PC sound settings are reset to the default output and input devices, which may differ from how you previously had them set.
- Solution: After the Windows 11 upgrade, please do the following:
- Open the Start Menu (windows icon)
- Type in Sound settings and click Open
- Select the device you wish to use to listen under Choose your output device (ex: external speakers, or headphones)
- Select the device you wish to use to speak under Choose your input device (ex: external microphone or headphone attached microphone)
- Once set, please ensure that your Zoom and/or Teams audio devices are also set to the proper output and input (microphone) selections.
How to Upgrade
- Open Software Center from the Start Menu. You may also type Software Center into the Search field in the Windows taskbar.

- Once you have opened Software Center, select the Operating Systems tab on the left. If your machine is eligible to upgrade, you will find the Windows 11 Upgrade (24H2) available here.
- Note: You may need to be on the latest version of Windows 10 before you are able to proceed with the Windows 11 upgrade.

- Click the Upgrade from the list, and you will be prompted with the option to Install it.
- Clicking Install will begin the download. This process may take up to 2 hours to complete.
- After Windows 11 has finished downloading and installing, you may be prompted to restart your computer .
- The restart will take some time - typically 30 minutes to an hour. Your PC will NOT be usable during the restart.
