Introduction
Cisco Jabber allows you to make and receive phone calls using your NEOMED-issued computer, whether on or off campus. If you use Jabber, you will not have to forward your phone - it will ring on your computer, provided you are connected to VPN.
How to Get Started
There are a couple of steps to get set up with Cisco Jabber:
- Request an account. You will also have to request VPN access if you do not already have that.
- IT will also need to install the Jabber software on your NEOMED computer.
Using Jabber
- If remote, connect to the NEOMED VPN.
- Open the Cisco Jabber app, then enter your username (without the @neomed.edu) and password.
- The main Jabber screen will load.
- To make a call, click the keypad button next to the search box to dial a number - you must dial 9 to get an outside line like you do from your desk phone.
- When a call comes in, you will get a notification from Jabber allowing you to answer or decline:
- If you do not get this notification, check your Settings (the gear at the top right of your screen)
- Select Settings, then Notifications. Ensure that All incoming calls is checked.
