Overview
NEOMED employees are eligible to participate in the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program, formerly known as the Microsoft Home Use Program.
The program allows eligible employees to save up to 30% on select Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions for personal or household use.
Important: Products purchased through this program are personal purchases. They are separate from your NEOMED Microsoft account, license, applications, and services.
Who Can Use This Program?
The program is available to current NEOMED employees.
To participate, you will need:
- Your NEOMED email address to verify employment eligibility.
- An active personal Microsoft account to complete the purchase and manage the subscription.
Your personal Microsoft account may use an Outlook.com, Hotmail, Gmail, or another email address. Do not use your NEOMED account as the personal account that owns the subscription.
Microsoft requires a valid organizational email address and an active Microsoft account to participate.
Available Discounts
Eligible employees may receive up to a 30% discount on select Microsoft 365 plans, including eligible personal and family subscription options.
Available products, prices, and discount amounts are determined by Microsoft and may change. Review the Workplace Discount Program website for the offers currently available to you.
How to Access the Discount
- Visit the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program.
- Enter your NEOMED email address when prompted to verify your eligibility.
- Follow the instructions Microsoft sends to your NEOMED email account.
- Sign in with an existing personal Microsoft account, or create one if needed.
- Review the available products and pricing.
- Complete the purchase directly through Microsoft.
Microsoft 365 products purchased through the program are associated with the personal Microsoft account used during the purchase.
NEOMED Account vs. Personal Microsoft Account
The two accounts have different purposes and is important to understand in case your separate from the University.
NEOMED Account
Use your NEOMED email address to:
- Verify that you work for an eligible organization.
- Receive Microsoft’s eligibility message.
- Access Microsoft 365 services provided by NEOMED for university work.
Personal Microsoft Account
Use your personal Microsoft account to:
- Purchase the discounted subscription.
- Install the personally licensed Microsoft 365 applications.
- Manage payment and renewal information.
- Access personal OneDrive storage and other consumer services.
- Manage or share an eligible Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
The personal subscription is separate from the Microsoft 365 services provided and managed by NEOMED.
Important Information
- The discount applies only to eligible products displayed by Microsoft.
- Products purchased through the program are for personal or household use.
- The purchase is made directly from Microsoft, not from NEOMED.
- NEOMED does not manage the subscription, billing, renewal, personal Microsoft account, or personal OneDrive storage.
- Do not store NEOMED institutional data in a personal Microsoft 365 account or personal OneDrive.
- Do not forward a personalized eligibility or sign-in link to another person.
- Microsoft may change the program, available products, pricing, or eligibility requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as the Microsoft Home Use Program?
Yes. The Microsoft Workplace Discount Program was formerly called the Microsoft Home Use Program.
Can I purchase Microsoft 365 Family?
Microsoft identifies Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions as consumer offerings available through the program. The products available to you will be displayed after you verify your eligibility.
Is this the same Microsoft 365 license I use for work?
No. Your NEOMED Microsoft 365 license is an organizational license provided for university work. A subscription purchased through the Workplace Discount Program is a consumer subscription connected to your personal Microsoft account.
Which email address should I use?
Use:
- Your NEOMED email address to verify eligibility.
- Your personal Microsoft account to complete the purchase and manage the subscription.
Can I use my NEOMED password for the personal subscription?
No. Your personal Microsoft account should have its own password and security settings. NEOMED does not manage or recover personal Microsoft account credentials.
Will NEOMED reimburse me for the purchase?
No. The Workplace Discount Program is an optional employee benefit. Purchases are personal expenses completed directly through Microsoft.
Who provides support for the personal subscription?
Microsoft provides support for personal purchases, billing, subscription management, installation, and activation. NEOMED IT does not administer personal Microsoft accounts or consumer subscriptions.
What happens if I leave NEOMED?
Your subscription remains associated with the personal Microsoft account used for the purchase. Continued eligibility for discounted pricing or future purchases is subject to Microsoft’s current program terms.
