Enable and Conduct Polls within Zoom

Summary

Engage your audience with interactive live polling to gain valuable feedback real-time.

Body

Polls are a feature in Zoom that allow meeting hosts to ask questions to participants and gather their responses. The host can create polls with different types of questions, such as single choice, multiple choice, matching, rank order, short answer, long answer, and fill in the blank. Participants in the meeting will be prompted to answer the polling questions, and the host can see the results live. The host can also download the entire poll report or view the results in a web browser. Additionally, the host can choose to share the results with the participants in the meeting.

How to enable polling for meetings

To enable or disable meeting polling for your own use:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Settings.
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Basic), click the Meeting Polls/Quizzes toggle to enable or disable it.
  5. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level, and you will need to contact your Zoom administrator.
  6. (Optional) Select the check boxes to enable the follow features:
    • Allow images uploaded in polls/quizzes to be displayed: Choose if you want to allow hosts to upload images in polls/quizzes they create. Changing this setting will impact new and existing polls/quizzes.
    • Allow alternative host to add or edit polls and quizzes: When a host schedules a meeting with alternative hosts, they can allow the alternative hosts to add, edit, and download polls in a meeting.
    • Require answers to be anonymous: Allows account owners or admins to enforce participant answers to always be anonymous.
    • Allow host to create breakout rooms from poll results: Allow the meeting host to create breakout rooms based on the participants’ poll answers. For example, the meeting host may want to split breakout rooms based on participants who share similar interests. Hosts can set a limit for how many participants are placed in each breakout room and move/exchange participants after launching the breakout rooms.
